Men's Golf 10th after 36 Holes of SEC Championship

The Aggie men's golf team climbed one spot on the leaderboard Saturday at the SEC Championship to end the event's second round tied for 10th place at Sea Island Golf Course.

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Aggie men's golf team climbed one spot on the leaderboard Saturday at the SEC Championship to end the event's second round tied for 10th place at Sea Island Golf Course.

"We played really well for the most part today," Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. "Unfortunately, we saw the same story we have all year. We hit some balls into trouble off the tee and that led to some big numbers. We had three more double-bogeys that counted today and those six shots made a pretty big difference."

The Aggies (286-282=568) share 10th place with Kentucky at eight-over par while Alabama (269-274=543, -17) continues to pace the field in pursuit of a fourth consecutive SEC title.

"We need to put together a great final round tomorrow if we want our season to continue," Higgins added. "We know what's in front of us and we're looking forward to the challenge. We're going to come out here ready to go tomorrow and give it our best."

Senior Greg Yates (71-67=138, -2) climbed 18 positions in the individual standings on Saturday, carding five birdies against just two bogies to finish the day at three-under part with a share of 16th place.

Third-year Aggie Adrià Arnaus (72-68=140, E) also came in under par during the second round, shooting a two-under 68, to hold a share of 23rd.

Junior Ben Crancer (70-74=144, +4) finished the day tied for 45th while classmate Andrew Lister (73-73=146, +6) was two shots back with a share of 52nd.

Freshman Andrew Paysse (80-78=158, +18) rounded out the Aggie contingency in 70th place.

The SEC Championship concludes with a third and final round Sunday morning. Live scoring and results will be available at GolfStat.com and on Twitter at @AggieMensGolf.
