COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M softball freshman Tori Vidales led the Aggies to their second Southeastern Conference series sweep last weekend and was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for her efforts, the conference office announced today.

Vidales was vital at the plate last week for the Aggies, who finished SEC play at .500 for the first time since joining the league in 2012-13. After the final weekend of conference play, Vidales is tied for second in the league in home runs, with 18, and walks, with 45.

Vidales's most impressive stats of the week, however, were her .733 on-base percentage, reaching in all but one of her at-bats over the last week, and her 1.100 slugging percentage through four contests that included a midweek game at Texas State. She drew four walks on the week, patiently waiting on pitches and reaching base by any means possible to help her team.

The freshman was perfect at the plate in the last two games of the Ole Miss series, going 3-for-3 both afternoons for a combined four runs and four RBI on six hits, including a two run homer and a walk on Saturday.

This is Vidales's first-ever SEC Freshman of the Week honor, and the first for the Aggies this season.

The team travels to Baton Rouge this week, opening the 2015 SEC Tournament Wednesday, facing off against South Caorlina at 4 p.m. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to 12thMan.com and follow @Aggie Softball on Twitter.
