NORMAN, Okla. – Texas A&M men's golf incoming freshman Chandler Phillips was one of four golfers selected to represent the United States at the TOYOTA Junior Golf World Cup supported by JAL at Chukyo Golf Club's Ishino Course June 16-19.

Team USA, which is sponsored by Nike Golf and will be led head coach Jimmy Stobs of Barry, has won the tournament five times since its inception in 1992 but has failed to claim the team title since 2005. The United States finished tied for second last year.

Phillips, a native of Huntsville, Texas, won both the LJT HP Byron Nelson Junior Championship and the AJGA Under Armour/Jordan Spieth Championship in 2014. He has finished first in both high school district and regional championships in back-to-back years. Phillips recently finished third at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club.

Most recently, Phillips capped off his steller high school career by winning UIL Class 5A individual medalist honors.

The Junior Golf World Cup, which follows a four-players-count-three scores format, will consist of four rounds. The TOYOTA Junior Golf World Cup 2015 Supported by JAL is the world's only junior golf championship in which national teams, winners of regional qualifiers held across six continents and participated by more than 60 national teams, compete for the world champion trophy.
