Neubert, Gibson Named to Academic All-DIstrict Team

Texas A&M was represented by a pair of swimmers with perfect 4.0 grade point averages on the 2014-15 Capital One At-Large Academic All-District 7 Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.Earning spots on the prestigious team were senior Emily Neubert (Waco, Texas) and sophomore Sarah Gibson (San Antonio, Texas). Both Aggies advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in early June.

Texas A&M was represented by a pair of swimmers with perfect 4.0 grade point averages on the 2014-15 Capital One At-Large Academic All-District 7 Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Earning spots on the prestigious team were senior Emily Neubert (Waco, Texas) and sophomore Sarah Gibson (San Antonio, Texas). Both Aggies advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in early June.

Neubert, from Midway High School in Waco, Texas, has already earned a pair of degrees in business honors and management information systems and is currently pursuing her master's in economics from Texas A&M. Neubert, who earned honorable mention All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, has already earned the NCAA Elite 89 Award and was named an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient.

Gibson, from Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas, is pursuing her bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. She earned first-team All-America honors at the 2015 NCAA Championships while helping the 800-yard freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish.

Also being nominated for Capital One Academic All-District honors from the men's and women's swimming and diving teams were junior Colleen Konetzke (3.93 in professional program in accounting), junior Antoine Marc (3.7 in applied mathematics and molecular and cellular biology) and sophomore Madison Hudkins (3.92 in sport management).

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
