BRADENTON, Fla.- The No. 9 Texas A&M women's golf team heads to the NCAA Championships in Bradenton, Fla., where 24 teams compete in up to seven rounds of golf on The Concession Golf Club to determine the sport's national champion.
The competition opens on Friday, May 22 with Texas A&M teeing off at 6:30 a.m. CT for the first of 54 holes of stroke play on the par 72 / 6,468 yard course. After three rounds, the field cuts to 15 teams and the nine-highest remaining individuals, for the final round of stroke play, which starts at 10:50 CT and is televised on the Golf Channel. After the 72 holes of stroke play, the field cuts again to the top eight schools, who face off in three rounds of match play for the first time in the sport's history. The national quarterfinals and national semifinals are on Tuesday, May 26, starting at 6 a.m. CT, and the national championship match is on Wednesday, May 27 at 1:10 p.m. CT, with all rounds televised on the Golf Channel.
The Aggies, who rank second nationally in stroke average, look to post their fourth Top 10 finish under Trelle McCombs and their sixth Top 16 finish in the past eight years. The Aggies currently boast three of the top four single-season stroke average marks by individuals, with Marijosse Navarro (71.33/1st), Maddie Szeryk (71.45/2nd) and Bianca Fabrizio (72.61/4th) leading the way.
The Aggies are joined in the field by Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Cal, Campbell, Duke, LSU, NC State, Northwestern, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Tulane, UC-Davis, UCLA, UNLV, Virginia, Wake Forest and Washington.
