"We are very fortunate to have an incredibly talented team supporting Texas A&M Athletics through 12th Man Productions," Sr. Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Jason Cook said. "This past year has been one like no other, with the unveiling of the largest video board in college football, a new production facility and the launch of the SEC Network. It's quite fitting for the group to be recognized nationally for their outstanding work."
The Director of 12th Man Productions is an Aggie, Andy Richardson '87. He and his group won an SVG award in 2013 for the "Welcome to the SEC" series and in 2012 was honored for their part in the successful 2012 Heisman campaign for Johnny Manziel.
"We are thrilled to have four of our entries recognized as finalists at the SVG's. It's a testament to the hard work and creativity of our professional and student staff at 12th Man Productions," Richardson said.
The group, which includes nearly 80 undergraduate Texas A&M students, has moved into an $11.8 million facility in the south end zone at redeveloped Kyle Field. With the new facilities and talented staff, 12th Man Productions has brought both traditional linear broadcasts as well as digital broadcasts to the SEC Network and ESPN family of networks.
Other fulltime staff members for 12th Man Productions include: Buddy Kimberlin, Chris Bieschke, Charlene Callaway, Will Johnson, Cade Key, Brandon Law, Chuck Primrose and Clay Taylor.
One finalist from 12th Man Productions is a full live game production from a men's basketball game against Sam Houston State in this first year of the ESPN/SEC Network.
Another finalist is the live studio show that was a two-hour National Signing Day show featuring Aggie football head coach Kevin Sumlin's signing class.
The Pulse, the weekly behind the scenes all-access show that followed the 2014 Aggie football team through the lens of 12th Man Productions, is up for the Outstanding Program Series.
The fourth award finalist is "Toast with Toates", a Collegiate Student hosted Program. Jeff Toates, a student in 12th Man Productions, did various interviews with Aggie student-athletes with a dry humor but an eye on revealing each athletes' unique personality traits.
Winners will be named by a panel of judges and announced at the College Sports Media Awards ceremony set for Thursday, May 28 at the SVG College Sports Summit at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. The event will be hosted by FOX Sports' Joel Klatt.
