Aggie Baseball Announces Team Award Winners

The Texas A&M baseball team announced its annual list of team honors on Thursday after the Aggies concluded the 2015 campaign with a 50-14 record, extending their school-record string of consecutive NCAA Championship appearances to nine seasons and claiming their seventh overall NCAA Regional title.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M baseball team announced its annual list of team honors on Thursday after the Aggies concluded the 2015 campaign with a 50-14 record, extending their school-record string of consecutive NCAA Championship appearances to nine seasons and claiming their seventh overall NCAA Regional title.

MARION PUGH MOST VALUABLE PLAYER – Blake Allemand
Senior Blake Allemand was awarded the Marion Pugh Most Valuable Player Award. Allemand started all 64 games for the Aggies, the only A&M player to appear in every game. He paced the squad with 60 runs, three triples and nine stolen bases. On the year, Allemand hit .339 with 83 hits, 14 doubles, seven home runs and 40 RBI. He batted in the leadoff spot the last 54 games of the season, logging a .343 batting average with 14 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 32 RBI and a .438 on-base percentage.

Allemand ranked second on the team in batting in SEC games, hitting .362 (38-for-105) and led the team with 26 runs, a .462 on-base percentage and eight doubles in conference action.
 
He earned Midwest-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team distinction.

C.E. "PAT" OLSEN OUTSTANDING PITCHER AWARD – Grayson Long
Junior pitcher Grayson Long was one of the league's top pitchers and was selected by his teammates to receive the C.E. "Pat" Olsen Outstanding Pitcher Award for the second consecutive season.
 
Long earned All-America Third Team status from both Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and garnered All-SEC Second Team recognition. In 17 starts, he went 9-1 with a 2.82 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 95.2 innings of work.

The Mont Belvieu, Texas-native led the Aggies in league action, posting a 6-0 record with a 2.67 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 10 SEC starts.

WALLY MOON AWARD – Mitchell Nau
The Wally Moon Award is given annually to the player who shows the most improvement from the fall to the end of the season. This year senior Mitchell Nau was chosen by his teammates as the recipient of the honor.
 
Nau, who entered his senior season with a career .235 batting average in 96 games, led the team with a .370 batting average, 88 hits and a .460 on-base percentage in his 63 games in 2015. His batting average was .096 higher than his injury-riddled junior campaign. Nau added 46 runs, four doubles and 47 RBI on the year.

In SEC action, Nau batted .333 with 18 runs, five doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI in 28 games. He was the Aggies' top hitter in NCAA Championship play, batting .361 (13-for-36) with five runs, three doubles and one RBI in eight games.

Nau garnered All-SEC First Team distinction and was tabbed Midwest-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team.

MARION PUGH SPIRIT AWARD – Corbin Martin
A consummate teammate, freshman Corbin Martin was recognized for his efforts by his teammates who awarded him the Marion Pugh Spirit Award, which is given annually to the player who is most instrumental to team unity and who provides valuable leadership both on and off the field.

Martin went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 18.1 innings in his 14 appearances as a rookie.

The Cypress, Texas-native was instrumental in the emergence of the Whammy Movement and garnered national attention with the rally Cheez-its box hat.

LORAINE B. AND WILLIAM B. "BREEZY" BREAZEALE RBI AWARD – Logan Taylor
Taylor was the Aggies' best run-producer, earning the Loraine B. and William B. "Breezy" Breazeale RBI Award.

The Houston, Texas-native drove in a team-best 52 runs during the 2015 campaign. Batting .333 with 34 runs, 13 doubles, one home run and a team-high 10 home runs, Taylor earned All-America Third Team status from NCBWA and All-SEC Second Team distinction.
