TORONTO, Ontario- Texas A&M senior Courtney Williams scored five points as the United States clinched a spot in the Pan American Games semifinals with a 93-77 win over Puerto Rico in women's basketball at the Ryerson Athletic Centre.
Williams made her first two shots of the game, both in the first quarter, helping the USA (3-0) to a 24-23 lead over Puerto Rico (1-2) after 10 minutes. Williams finished 2-4 from the field with a rebound. Williams had 10 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in group play.
The United States returns to action with a semifinal game against Cuba at 12:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, July 19. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3. The USA is looking for their first Pan American gold medal in women's basketball since 2011.
