COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M head soccer coach G Guerrieri and Aggie assistant volleyball coach Steve Greene will team with 30 children from the Boys and Girls Club of Brazos Valley in a back-to-school shopping spree hosted by Academy Sports + Outdoors on Thursday, August 6. The event will be held from noon-2 p.m. at the store's College Station (2351 Earl Rudder Fwy. South) location.

Each child from the Boys and Girls Club will receive a $100 Academy gift card to use towards the purchase of athletic apparel, backpacks, shoes and other school necessities. Guerrieri and Greene will be on hand throughout the shopping spree providing assistance and advice as the children make their selections.

Prior to the shopping spree, both coaches will speak to the group about the importance of being active, playing sports and living a healthy lifestyle. In addition, a mini Yell clinic will be held.

This is the sixth year the Academy shopping spree event has been held, and it has grown to include more than 75 similar events throughout the nation's southeast and midwest regions.

Guerrieri's soccer team, No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Preseason Ranking, takes to the pitch August 8 with its Legacy Game before playing an exhibition match August 15 against Tulsa at Ellis Field. The Maroon and White returns 10 letterwinners, including three starters, from the 2014 season in which the Aggies went 22-3-2, won both the SEC regular season and SEC Tournament titles, made a first-ever College Cup appearance and were an all-time high No. 4 in the final NSCAA Coaches Poll.

The Aggie volleyball team, which returns 11 letterwinners -- including all six starters plus the libero -- from last year's team that went 21-9 and made a fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament, opens its season at Stanford on August 28 and makes its Reed Arena home debut Sept. 5 with matches against Wichita State and Abilene Christian.
