Aggies Picked Second in SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Entering their fourth season in the Southeastern Conference, the Texas A&M Aggies were selected second in the 2015 SEC Preseason Soccer Coaches' Poll, the league announced on Monday.

Texas A&M was also tabbed to finish second last season as the Maroon and White went on to claim the SEC regular-season crown and tournament title.
 
The Aggies were edged out by the Florida Gators in voting by the league's 14 head coaches. Texas A&M received 149 points (two first-place votes) and trailed only the Gators, who accumulated 167 points, including 11 first-place votes. Kentucky, who was slotted third with 140 points, picked up the final first-place vote.
 
Points were compiled on a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis though each coach was not allowed to vote for their own squad.
 
In 2014, the team captured the SEC regular-season title and won the SEC Tournament title, becoming the first team to earn the SEC Double in back-to-back years since Florida in 2001. The Aggies earned a bid to their 20th consecutive NCAA tournament, advancing to the Final Four before falling to Virginia. A&M finished the season ranked fifth in the nation with a 22-3-2 record (9-1-1 SEC).
 
The Aggies return three starters from last season, including 2014 All-SEC Second Team midfielder Janae Cousineau, 2014 SEC All-Freshman defender McKayla Paulson and defender Karlie Mueller. Florida returns six of their starters from the 2014 campaign.
 
The 23rd season of SEC women's soccer commences on August 21. Texas A&M travels to Houston for at 7 pm contest against the Rice Owls.
