COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M sophomore midfielder Mikaela Harvey was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week following her performance in leading the Aggies to wins over UC Irvine (4-0) and Florida Atlantic (2-0) over the weekend.
Harvey offered up a Rembrandt in each of the victories. On Friday, she weaved through six defenders while dribbling from the center line to the penalty spot before launching a missile inside the left post for the opening goal three minutes into the contest. On Sunday, she threaded a rocket through two defenders from 22 yards hitting the bottom of the crossbar before the ball cascaded down the back netting.
The Liberty Hill, Texas native has scored a goal in each of the last three matches and ranks third on the squad with six points. Harvey was one of 28 players named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List.
It marks the second consecutive week the Aggies have had someone named to the TDS National Team of the Week. Following the opening weekend, McKayla Paulson was named to the Team of the Week and Kate Hajdu was an Honorable Mention.
Texas A&M is off to a 4-0-0 start for the second consecutive season and the sixth time in school history. The Aggies return to action on Friday when they travel to Tallahassee for a Top Five match against the Florida State Seminoles.
