BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M junior Cameron Villarreal shared the SEC men's Runner of the Week honors during the first week of competition in cross country with Alabama's Antibahs Kosgei.

Villarreal won the Aggie Opener on Friday, covering the 6,000-meter distance in 17:59.2. He lowered the best time at that distance on the Dale Watts Cross Country course by 18 seconds and was the only runner among the field of 38 to break 18 minutes as Texas A&M won the team title over Lamar and UTSA.

The Aggies return to action on Saturday, September 26, when they host the Texas A&M Invitational, which will feature collegiate and high school competition on the Watts course.
