The Texas A&M women's tennis team won four of six matches on the opening day of the Under Armour/HEB Kickoff at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, while the Aggies lost two matches in the first round of the Oracle/ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif.
A&M won both of its doubles matches in Waco with Eva Paalma and Stefania Hristov defeating Baylor's Kelley Anderson and Elizabeth Profit, 8-5. In addition, A&M's Rutuja Bhosale teamed with Aggie freshman Domenica Gonzalez to defeat the Bears' Theresa Van Zyl and Rhiann Newborn, 8-4.
In singles against Ohio State, Hristov raced to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Olivia Sneed, and Anna Mamalat came from behind to defeat Grainne O'Neil, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. The Buckeyes picked up two wins as Anna Sanford defeated Rutuja Bhosale, 6-2, 6-2 and Ferny Angeles Paz, who lost her first set against Paalma, 6-2, came back to earn a spilt with a 7-5 second-set win, and was credited with the victory when Paalma retired.
On Saturday, Texas A&M faces Ohio State in doubles at 11 a.m. and then faces Alabama in singles at noon. The Aggies close out the tournament Sunday morning, facing Alabama in doubles at 9 a.m. and taking on Baylor in singles at 10 a.m.

In Malibu, A&M suffered first-round losses in both doubles and singles at the Oracle/ITA Masters. A&M's Saska Gavrilovska and Rachel Pierson fell to Giuliana Olmos and Gabby Smith of USC, 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of doubles. In singles, Pierson fell to No. 4 seed Danielle Collins of Virginia, 6-1, 6-1.
