Valentine, Neb. – After opening its fall schedule last weekend in Illinois, the Texas A&M men's golf team returns to action on Saturday when the Aggies begin play at The Jackrabbit, hosted by South Dakota State at the Prairie Club golf course.
Â
"It is always exciting to go to a new event," Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. "This is the first time the Prairie Club has hosted a collegiate tournament and we have never played in Nebraska. I have heard great things about this course and facility. The field is strong at the top so it will be a good challenge for us, but it sure would be nice to have Texas A&M be the first name on that trophy."
Â
The event, which gets underway Saturday morning, will feature 54 holes over three days on Prairie Club's Dunes Course. The course, which is ranked at the second-best course in Nebraska by Golf Digest and the No. 78 facility on Golf Magazine's top 100 public courses in the country, will play at 72 par and 7,785 yards this weekend.
Â
Joining Texas A&M in the field at the Jackrabbit will be Arizona State, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Creighton, McNeese State, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, South Dakota State and South Florida.
Â
The Aggies appear at No. 21 in the most recent edition of the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, which was released on Friday morning. Additionally, this weekend's field features three more ranked squads in Arizona State (No. 6), Oregon (18) and McNeese State (24).
Â
Constituting the Aggie line-up at the event will be seniors AdriĂ Arnaus, Ben Crancer and Andrew Lister along with sophomore Cameron Champ and freshman Chandler Phillips.Â
Â
Sophomore Andrew Paysse will participate in the tournament as an individual.
