Arnaus, Aggies Ascend Leaderboard at the Jackrabbit

Senior Adrià Arnaus tied a personal-low with a round of 65 on Sunday, surging up the player leaderboard at the Jackrabbit and helping the Texas A&M men's golf team climb two spots into fourth place.

Valentine, Neb. – Senior Adrià Arnaus tied a personal-low with a round of 65 on Sunday, surging up the player leaderboard at the Jackrabbit and helping the Texas A&M men's golf team climb two spots into fourth place.

Arnaus (74-65=139, -5) notched seven birdies as well as an eagle on the 609-yard, par-five 10th hole Sunday to ascend 10 spots into second in the individual standings. The Barcelona, Spain, native previously enjoyed a round of 65 during competition at the Dick's Challenge Cup last fall.

"Adria was awesome today," Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. "He was very aggressive. We've been encouraging him to do that and give himself the chance to shoot a great score. I was really proud of the way he played today, he converted his opportunities and put a great number on the board."

Arnaus will enter Sunday's final round just one shot off the pace set by leader Aaron Wise (69-69=138, -6) of Oregon.

As a team, the Aggies (303-279=582, +6) moved up two spots on the team leaderboard where they trail South Florida (-6), Michigan State (-1) and Oregon (+3).

"The guys played with a lot more determination and focus than they did yesterday," Higgins added. "They were able to finish off the round and put up a nice score. I'm pleased with that and how we bounced back. Now we're looking for another great round tomorrow to come out of here with a really nice tournament."

Aggie senior Ben Crancer (73-70=143, -1) also owns a spot in the top-10 of the player standings, sharing seventh place after carding a round of two-under par Sunday.

Rookie Chandler Phillips (77-70=147, +3) and senior Andrew Lister (80-74=154, +10) rounded out the A&M lineup on the leaderboard in 23rd and 47th place, respectively.

Meanwhile, playing as an individual, sophomore Andrew Paysse (79-80=159, +15) holds a share of 61st place.

"The venue played a lot better today," Higgins said. "The wind wasn't near as strong, so the course was much more scoreable. We took advantage of that and were able to reach many of the par-fives and give ourselves more scoring opportunities."

The Aggie contingency will begin teeing off during Monday's final round at 9:05 a.m. (CT) alongside golfers from Arizona State and South Dakota State. Results and live scoring for the Jackrabbit can be found at GolfStat.com
