College Station, Texas—Western riders Logan Pluhar and Ashley Dotson were named National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) September Riders of the Month this week after standout performances in the Aggies' season-opening meet at Georgia.
Pluhar, a senior, was named Horsemanship Rider of the Month. Her meet-best score of 77 earned her a head-to-head win at Georgia and was her first MVP performance since 2013-2014. She currently has the highest horsemanship score in the SEC this season.
Dotson, also a senior, earned Reining Rider of the Month honors after a 73-point performance that garnered a win over her Georgia foe. Both riders helped lead Texas A&M to a 6-3 win in the western discipline.
Despite being narrowly defeated by top-ranked Georgia 10-9, the Aggies remain in the top ten at No. 7 in the NCEA national poll. The team will travel to Fresno, Calif., on Oct. 23 to take on both Fresno State and New Mexico State.
