TULSA, Oklahoma – Jordi Arconada of the Texas A&M men's tennis team claimed a pair of wins in the ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying Draw Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Arconada advanced to the Round of 64 with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Anthony Delcore of Wake Forest. The sophomore then advanced to take on Dave Bacalla of Valparaiso for a place in the Qualifying Draw Monday, defeating Conner Huertas of Auburn 7-6(3), 6-4. The winner of the Arconada vs. Bacalla match will take on Jolan Cailleau of Texas Tech at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
Freshman Kevin Lam picked up his third win in the Sooner State Sunday morning. Lam defeated Calum MacGeoch of Drake 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. The Irvine, California native saw his run in Tulsa come to an end in the Round of 64, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Gustav Hansson of Ole Miss.
As the Pre-Qualifying Draw concludes Monday morning, the winners will advance to the Qualifying Draw beginning on Monday. A trio of Aggies, AJ Catanzariti, Arthur Rinderknech and Shane Vinsant, are awaiting the Main Draw, set to begin Thursday. A season ago, then-freshman Catanzariti stormed through both pre-qualifying and qualifying to advance to the Main Draw en route to an impressive freshman campaign.
