TULSA, Oklahoma – Texas A&M sophomore Jordi Arconada saw his run at the ITA All-American come to an end Monday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. AJ Catanzariti, Arthur Rinderknech, Oscar Janglin and Shane Vinsant are set to begin doubles play Tuesday.
Arconada advanced through the Pre-Qualifying Draw Monday with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Dave Bacalla of Valparaiso. The sophomore's stay in Tulsa came to an end in the first round of the Qualifying Draw, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Christian Seraphim of Wake Forest.
As the Qualifying Draw continues through Wednesday, the winners will advance to the Main Draw beginning on Thursday. A trio of Aggies, Catanzariti, Rinderknech and Vinsant, are awaiting the Main Draw to begin their singles participation. A season ago, then-freshman Catanzariti stormed through both pre-qualifying and qualifying to advance to the Main Draw en route to an impressive freshman campaign.
In doubles play, Catanzariti and Rinderknech will begin play in the Doubles Qualifying Draw Round of 128 against Dominic Bechard and Or Ram Harel of Tulsa while Vinsant and Janglin will await the winner of Pablo Moreno and Giovani Samaha of Troy or Dave Bacalla and Chad Kissell of Valparaiso in the Round of 64. Arconada's stay in Tulsa is not complete, the Puerto Rico native will join Max Lunkin to take on Jacob Herndon and Austin Robles of Arkansas in the Round of 64.
