COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M standout rookie Ally Watt was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week the league announced on Monday.
Watt was recognized following her effort in a road victory at Kentucky, when she accounted for the lone tally in the 1-0 win.
The Colorado Springs native made the most of her time off the bench, scoring the goal with 4:58 remaining in the first half. On the dribble, Watt raced between two defenders on a 30-yard sprint and then used an evasive maneuver on a third defender before uncorking a shot from 18 yards out, past the goalkeeper to her left, for her fourth goal of the season, all coming in SEC play.
Watt is the third Aggie to earn SEC Freshman of the Week recognition in 2015, joining Kate Hajdu, who earned the recognition the opening week of the season, and Emily Bates, who picked up the honor following road victories against Florida and Dayton.
On the season, Watt leads the Aggies in goals in SEC action with four.
Texas A&M returns to action Friday when the Aggies host the Arkansas Razorbacks in a 7 pm action at Ellis Field.
