Women's Basketball Picked Fourth By SEC Media

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Texas A&M women's basketball team was selected to finish fourth in the Southeastern Conference, as voted on by a select panel of both SEC and national media members.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Texas A&M women's basketball team was selected to finish fourth in the Southeastern Conference, as voted on by a select panel of both SEC and national media members.

South Carolina tops the order of finish with 265 points, with Tennessee (248), Mississippi State (215), Texas A&M (207), Kentucky (205), Ole Miss (169), and Missouri (165) rounding out the top half the league.  Arkansas (138), Georgia (128), LSU (128), Vanderbilt (80), Florida (78), Auburn (65) and Alabama (34) round out the bottom half.

For the first time in school history, the Aggie women's program returns two All-Americans, with two-time selection Courtney Walker and Jordan Jones slated to come back for Women's Basketball Hall of Fame coach Gary Blair, as the team looks for its 11th straight NCAA Tournament Appearance.

The Aggies return four starters in 2015-16—three of whom earned All-SEC honors a year ago. Jones, Walker and Courtney Williams, who competed for the United States national team in the Pan American Games this summer, look to earn All-SEC honors again as seniors, while Khaalia Hillsman looks to build on the momentum of a strong freshman campaign that saw her start the season's last 10 games.

Texas A&M's women's team brings back three-quarters of their scoring from 2014-15, and look to add contributions from highly-regarded newcomers Anriel Howard and Danni Williams, as well as Michigan State transfer Jasmine Lumpkin.

Points were compiled on a 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.  Each media member also voted for a five-player All-SEC Team and the Preseason SEC Player of the Year.
