Waterville, Ireland – The links of the Emerald Isle will be the site of competition for the Aggie men's golf team this weekend as it begins play at the Jerry Murray/Waterville Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Thursday.
Â
"This has been a great trip so far," Head coach J.T. Higgins said after the Aggies' practice round on Wednesday. "We've gotten to play a couple of great courses that are ranked among the best in the world. During our practice round today our guys looked great. This is a completely different style of golf for us. Playing links along the ocean, I really think we're going to get a taste of what the British Open or British Amateur Championship is like."
Â
The event will feature three days of play on the iconic Waterville Golf Links in Waterville, Ireland, between a trio of schools from the United State – Notre Dame, Texas A&M and UNC-Wilmington – and three universities from Ireland.
Â
Representing the Aggies at the event will be seniors AdriĂ Arnaus, Ben Crancer and Andrew Lister along with sophomore Connor Black and freshman Chandler Phillips.
Â
Additionally, Texas A&M's Jake Goodman, Max Miller and Andrew Paysse will join the field and compete as individuals.
Â
"This is going to be a really good test for our guys and I know they're excited to play this kind of golf, Higgins added. "We'll get to see how they stack up against some of their counterparts from across the pond."
