AUGUSTA, Ga. – Texas A&M senior punter Drew Kaser was named the Ray Guy Award Player of the Week on Monday for his outstanding performance against Ole Miss last Saturday.
A finalist for the Ray Guy Award in 2013 and a semifinalist in 2014, Kaser deposited four punts inside the Ole Miss 20-yard line while averaging a 47.9 yards on a career-high 10 boots. Kaser did not have a touchback and the Aggies gave up just 19 yards on five returns for an impressive 46.0 net average against the Rebels.
Kaser is tied for the national lead in the Football Bowl Subdivision with a 49.0 season average on 34 punts, and the Aggies rank No. 8 nationally in net punting with a 41.8 average. For the season, Kaser has 13 "coffin corner" efforts and 16 50-yard plus boots against just five touchbacks. Kaser is on pace to break the career punt average records at Texas A&M and the Southeastern Conference.
