Postgame Quotes
Texas A&M 100, Southeastern Louisiana 58
Nov. 16, 2015 ? Reed Arena
TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH BILLY KENNEDY
Opening Statement…
"I was pleased with our effort and our energy sharing the ball. Thought we were able to establish the inside presence early and it opened up a lot of opportunities from the perimeter. We shot the ball extremely well. Southeastern is rebuilding the program and believe me I know how hard that it is to do in that situation. Jay Ladner will get it going, just let him take his time."
On Tyler Davis…
"Got to love the 12 rebounds and just how unselfish he is. As good as he is offensively, he really passes well and looks for his teammates. He's a great team player as well as a great individual talent and he's going to continue to get better."
Tonny-Tyler Combo…
"Tonny is a really good passer. They both are unselfish and they look for each other. For not having played together a lot it seemed, from the last game, they started to develop a really good chemistry. Tonny continues to get better. He had three rebounds and made plays for other people. Five assists is really good for a big guy."
On senior Anthony Collins…
"He's one of the hardest workers I've ever coached. I've seen him shoot a thousand threes at about 70% in practice believe it or not. Tonight I was glad to see him make a couple shots because of how hard he's worked at it. He's really bought into this team concept. He makes hustle plays on the defensive end and has done everything we've asked him to do."
TEXAS A&M SENIOR DANUEL HOUSE
On the team having more depth…
"It makes the game a lot easier, because now our opponents have to respect each other they have to respect Tyler's post presence, Tonny's post presence, DJ's shooting ability and Admon's shooting ability. Also, Anthony and Caruso's ability to shoot the ball and drive the ball."
On what depth means to this team…
"Depth, as you've seen in the previous years in the NCAA tournament, the teams that run deep always makes it to the Final Four. Coach Kennedy did a great job of going to get players so we can be deep and compete for a title."
TEXAS A&M FRESHMAN CENTER TYLER DAVIS
On his rebounding…
"Rebounding is key for me, before games I tell myself just focus on rebounding and getting stops on the defensive end. Scoring is going to come because my teammates make it easy on me."
On Tonny Troch-Morelos' play…
"Tony is a great passer. Every time we get a chance to go high-low, we give it a look. If it's not there, we keep looking for it later on. "
On AC's big dunk…
"I love to see it the way AC (Alex Caruso) plays defense, the way he reads passing lanes and when he finishes it, obviously it got us real pumped up every time we get a big dunk or something I'm always yelling. I love playing off my teammates' energy whenever we get a big shot or a big finish like that."
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA HEAD COACH JAY LADNER
On the game…
"We want to try and improve, only one player No. 33, Daniel Grieves, had finished the season with us last year so we've got a new basketball team with a lack of Division-I experience, but I think we're improving. Frankly, we were just overwhelmed tonight, out-manned. I thought our guys fought hard, didn't always play the best, left some points out there on the floor, but it was a bunch of young guys out there battling."
On how his team played…
"I don't think they played well, I think they played hard, but Texas A&M had a lot to do with us not playing very well."
