Dr. Tom Adair, a longtime member of the faculty in the Department of Physics and the university's Faculty Athletics Representative since 1980, was honored for his service Saturday night at Kyle Field.
Â
Dr. Adair has played a role in transitions from the Southwest Conference, Big 12 and into the SEC, as well as many national changes that have impacted our student-athletes. He is retiring from his Athletics role this fall.
Â
"Dr. Adair has been a tremendous ambassador not only for Texas A&M Athletics, but for this great University," Athletics Director Eric Hyman said. "His incredibly selfless service to Aggies everywhere is evident by his 50 years on the faculty and 35 years as our Faculty Athletics Representative. Texas A&M Athletics is truly indebted to him for his time, effort and energy throughout the years. In all of his time working with the Athletics Department, he has seen it all—from two conference realignments to the growth and success of women's sports on this campus. We will miss him dearly, and wish he and Carolyn many more years of health and happiness in retirement."
Â
In recognition of his 35 years of service as Faculty Athletics Representative, Hyman presented Dr. Adair a framed #35 jersey during an on-field ceremony.
