
Furious Rally Falls Just Short at No. 16 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP)-- Bobby Portis scored 22 points and No. 18 Arkansas won its seventh straight game with an 81-75 victory over Texas A&M on Tuesday night.
The win solidifies the Razorbacks (23-5, 12-3 Southeastern Conference) hold on second place in the SEC heading into a showdown with No. 1 Kentucky on Saturday. It also gives Arkansas, which has won 10 of 11 games overall, 12 wins in SEC play for the first time since the 1994-95 season.
Anthlon Bell added 14 points and Alandise Harris and Ky Madden had 11 each for the Razorbacks, who led by as many as 25 points in the first half before holding off a second-half rally by the Aggies (19-8, 10-5).
Danuel House led Texas A&M with 28 points, while Kourtney Roberson had 14 -- 12 coming in the second half.

● Texas A&M fell to 19-8 on the year with a 10-5 mark in SEC play following the 81-75 loss to No. 18 Arkansas at Bud Walton Arena on Tuesday.

● The Aggies put up a feverous comeback attempt during the second half, outscoring Arkansas 49-32 during the period after the Razorbacks had enjoyed a 25-point point advantage during the opening 20 minutes … A&M cut the lead down to just two points at 74-72 with just 1:30 remaining.
● A&M featured four players in double-digits for the eighth game this season (House-28, Roberson-14, Robinson-11 & Jones-10)
● Arkansas got off to a blistering start in the contest, racing out to a 10-0 lead in the contest as the Aggies … the Razorbacks rode the hot start to a 49-26 halftime advantage.
● The Aggies were guilty of a season-high 21 turnovers in the loss, including 16 in the first 20 minutes … the team's previous high-water mark for turnovers was 20 vs Dayton on Nov. 20.
● A&M owned a 44-23 advantage in the rebounding column.
● The Aggies used the starting lineup combination of Alex Caruso, Jordan Green, Danuel House, Jalen Jones and Kourtney Roberson for the 18th time this season (13-5).
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
● Junior guard Danuel House led all scorers with a career-best 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting … it stands out as his seventh 20-point showing of the season.
● Junior Jalen Jones recorded his second double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
● A&M head coach Billy Kennedy is now 69-57 in his fourth season at Texas A&M and 280-236 in 17 years as a head coach.

● The Aggies return home to Reed Arena to face Auburn on Saturday in a 7:30 p.m. contest that will be televised on SEC Network ... A&M will be searching for the season sweep of the Tigers, who they beat 71-61 in Auburn, Ala., earlier this season.
