Softball Earns Win No. 40, Advances to Regional Championship

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 24/25 Texas A&M softball team (40-19) won the weather delayed game against Lehigh (40-9) on Sunday 5-0, notching the 40^th win of the season.

Junior Katie Marks threw her 10^th complete game of 2015, allowing only three hits and issuing a sole walk in her 13^th win and fifth shutout.

After a scoreless first inning, freshman Erica Russell put the Aggies on the board with a solo home run that dropped just over the left field wall.

Marks retired the Lehigh side in order, setting the A&M offense up for a big third inning. Freshman Tori Vidales led off with a solo home run, her second of the day, to bump the Aggie lead up to two runs. After two consecutive outs, sophomore April Ryan reached first on a fielding error before a bomb from junior Breanna Dozier, tallying her second long ball of the day, went deep over center field to give the Aggies a 4-0 lead.

After the game was suspended due to severe weather in the area, action resumed at noon on Sunday at noon.

After a scoreless fourth, the Aggies put up a run in the home half of the fifth to push the score to 5-0. Ryan crushed a double to the wall in left center field to put herself in scoring position. A laser single up the middle by junior Cali Lanphear gave Ryan time to round the bags for home in what would be the final run of the game.

Marks allowed a single hit in Sunday's action, retiring 11 of the 12 batters she faced with three strikeouts on the day.
