COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men's basketball moved up to No. 5 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches Polls on Monday, marking the highest-ever ranking for the program.
Â
The Aggies (17-2) enter the week riding a 10-game winning streak that dates back to mid-December and atop the SEC standings with a perfect 7-0 league record. Texas A&M has been ranked in at least one poll for 10 consecutive weeks after debuting at No. 25 in the AP poll on Nov. 23.
Â
Previously, the program's highest rank came during the 2006-07 campaign when Texas A&M ascended as high as No. 6 in both polls en route to a Sweet 16 appearance under former head coach Billy Gillispie.
Â
This week, Texas A&M will face Arkansas in Fayetteville on Wednesday (6 p.m. on ESPNU) before returning to Aggieland to host Iowa State on Saturday inside Reed Arena (1 p.m. on ESPN).
