TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Texas A&M sophomore Maddie Szeryk shot a 3-under 69, and leads the Florida State Match Up by a stroke after the first of three rounds on the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course.
Szeryk is joined in the top 10 by Andrea Jonama, who shot a 1-over 73 to tie for eighth. The Aggies are tied for fourth in the tournament with a 10-over 298 on the par 72/6,260 yard course on Friday.
"They played very patient today, and didn't try to force anything," said Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs. "It paid off for them in the end."
Szeryk leads Coastal Carolina's Lena Schaeffner by one stroke headed into Saturday's second round. Hosts Florida State leads the tournament with a 5-over 293 after the first round.
Thanya Pattamakijsakul shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for 27th. Callie Scheffler, who is tied for 57th with an 8-over 80 and Bianca Fabrizio, who is tied for 60th with a 9-over 81, round out A&M's lineup.
Playing as an individual, Emily Campbell is tied for 35th after shooting a 4-over 77.
In the Match-Up's unique combined team format, the Texas A&M/Florida State pairing leads the tournament with a Match-Up score of 368, five strokes ahead of the SMU/Kansas State pairing.
