COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Assistant Athletic Fields Manager Nick McKenna has been appointed to the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) 2016 Board of Directors as a representative of the higher education turf managers, the STMA recently announced at their annual meetings in San Diego.
Â
"It's a big honor to serve in the organization." McKenna said. "My role is representing the collegiate or higher education segment of the organization which is roughly 700 to 800 other sports turf managers across the country and throughout the world, at the collegiate level. Our main focus is advancing our profession through safe and playable athletic fields, whether that's through education, activities, professional development or research. For me to be able to serve in that capacity and be our voice for the next couple of years is a privilege and an honor for me."
Â
STMA is the not-for-profit, professional association for men and women who manage sports fields worldwide. Since 1981, the association and its 34 local chapters have been providing education, information and sharing practical knowledge in the art and science of sports field management.
