AUGUSTA, Ga.- Thanya Pattamakijsakul shot a 1-under 71, and sits in a tie for fourth place in the 3M Augusta Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club. The No. 21 Texas A&M women's golf team is tied for seventh at 13-over par after one round.
Pattamakijsakul had her sixth par-or-better round of the season, highlighted by a bogey-free 34 on the back nine of the par 72 / 6,246 yard course. She is joined in the top 10 by Maddie Szeryk, who shot an even-par 72, and is tied for ninth in the competition.
Andrea Jonama is tied for 25th after an opening round 75 (+3), after rallying back from a 5-over start with two birdies and no bogies over the last 10 holes of the round. Callie Scheffler shot 83 (+11) and is tied for 85th and Emily Campbell shot 86 (+14) to tie for 87th, rounding out A&M's lineup.
A&M finished the round with a 13-over 301, but is just three shots away from the Top 5.
Furman and East Tennessee State lead the tournament with a 2-over 290 after one round. Alice Chen of Furman and Jessica Haigwood of Augsta are tied for the individual lead at 3-under 69.
The final two rounds of the tournament will be played all on Saturday, moving the final round up from Sunday in anticipation of poor weather. The Aggies tee off starting at 7:30 a.m. CT in a shotgun format.
