Texas A&M sophomore Maddie Szeryk qualified for the LPGA Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout on Wednesday. Szeryk co-won the qualifier with a 2-over 73, getting her into the event, which runs April 28-May 1 at Las Colinas Country Club.
Szeryk bogeyed the first hole, and spent much of the day battling to get back to even par, but birdied 18 to tie with Alabama's Cheyenne Knight. Both SEC golfers earned entry into the LPGA event with their score.
This marks the second straight year an active A&M player qualified for the North Texas Shootout, after Marijosse Navarro qualified for the event in 2015 and finished 51st.
Szeryk previously qualified for the North Texas Shootout in 2014 as a prep player.
Szeryk and the A&M women's golf team tees off in Kane'ohe, Hawai'i for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 22-23 for their next tournament.
