Bralon Taplin, Deon Lendore both advance to 400m final at World Indoor Championships

PORTLAND, Oregon – Texas A&M alumni Bralon Taplin and Deon Lendore both advanced to the finals of the 400m at the 16th IAAF World Indoor Championships as they finished first and second in the same semifinal heat on Friday evening at the Oregon Convention Center. They will race in the final on Saturday at 9:05 p.m. (CT).

PORTLAND, Oregon – Texas A&M alumni Bralon Taplin and Deon Lendore both advanced to the finals of the 400m at the 16th IAAF World Indoor Championships as they finished first and second in the same semifinal heat on Friday evening at the Oregon Convention Center. They will race in the final on Saturday at 9:05 p.m. (CT).
 
Taplin, the world leader this season at 45.20 seconds representing Grenada, won the semifinal section in 45.38 as Trinidad & Tobago's Lendore, currently third in the world for 2016 with a 45.56 best, finished in the runner-up position with a 46.23.
 
In the prelim heats earlier in the day both won separate heats, with Taplin clocking 46.24 and Lendore posting a 46.38.
 
The final will have Taplin in lane 6, the same lane he occupied in the semifinal, while Lendore will be in lane 4 after running in lane 5 during the semifinal. In between the two Aggies will be Pavel Maslak of the Czech Republic in lane 5.
 
Australia's Fabrice Lapierre competes in the long jump final on Sunday while Shavez Hart is part of the Bahamas 4x400 relay, which will have a semifinal on Saturday. Trinidad and the Bahamas will race in the same section of the 4x400.
