CARDIFF, Wales – Texas A&M graduate Hillary Montgomery is competing in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships as part of the United States team on Saturday. The women's race begins at 1:35 p.m. (8:35 a.m. CT) followed by the men's race at 2:10 p.m. (9:10 a.m. CT).

Montgomery will be one of five USA women runners among the field of 86 entrants that represents 33 countries. Joining Montgomery on Team USA are Janet Cherobon-Bawcom, Sara Hall, Brianne Nelson and Kellyn Taylor.

The race will be streamed live online by NBC Sports Live Extra beginning at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Live results will be available on the IAAF.org website. The Cardiff University World Half Marathon course is a predominately flat and fast course that makes it ideal for beginners and elites. The race will start and finish around the Cardiff Castle grounds.

In moving up to longer distances in road racing, Montgomery has raced twice in half marathons over the past six months. She posted a time of 1:13:36 for 15th place in Philadelphia on October 31 and then improved to 1:11:49 in Houston when she finished seventh on January 17.

In preparations for the World Half Marathon Championships, Montgomery recently placed ninth in the USATF 15km Championships with a time of 54:44 in Jacksonville on March 12.
