ATLANTA, Ga. – Texas A&M sophomore diver Tyler Henschel placed eighth in the three-meter springboard dive to highlight the Aggies' third day at the 2016 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Henschel's Championship final effort boosted the Aggies to No. 28 in the team standing and the team has scored 12 total points. The top five teams in the standings were Texas (366 points), California (271), Florida (255), NC State (197) and Georgia (162).
Henschel, from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, earned first-team All-America honors after scoring 332.55 points in the final. He was the No. 3 qualifier out of the prelims with a 408.10 point total. Freshman teammate Sam Thornton placed 30th with a score of 345.60 in the prelims.
In other action, sophomore swimmer Mauro Castillo Luna placed 24th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.07 and sophomore Brock Bonetti finished 32nd in the 100 backstroke with a time of 47.32.
