COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Officials from both schools announced this week that Texas A&M and Southern California will face off in men's basketball non-conference action in each of the next two seasons.
Â
The first meeting will take place inside Texas A&M's Reed Arena on Nov. 18, 2016, with the Aggies making a return trip to Los Angeles to face the Trojans at the Galen Center in the Fall of 2017.
Â
Texas A&M is poised to return eight letterwinners from the school's banner 2015-16 squad which saw the Aggies set a school record for wins in a season (28), capture A&M's the first regular season league championship since 1986 and advance to the Sweet 16 for the third time in program history.
Â
USC, meanwhile, took a big step forward this season under the leadership of third-year head coach Andy Enfield, who guided the Trojans to 21 victories and an NCAA Tournament berth.
Â
The two schools have met just once previously on the hardwood, facing off during the 1936-37 season in College Station with the Trojans earning a 26-18 victory.
Â
Texas A&M's full non-conference schedule is slated to be released in the near future but Texas A&M has already revealed it will participate in the Wooden 2016 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy. The event will be held Nov. 24-25 in Cal State Fullerton's Titan Gym with the final day of play on Nov. 27 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The Wooden field includes UCLA (Pac-12). Cal State Northridge (Big West), Dayton (Atlantic 10), Nebraska (Big Ten), New Mexico (Mountain West), Portland (West Coast), Texas A&M (Southeastern) and Virginia Tech (Atlantic Coast).
