COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies look to snap a three-game losing streak as they head to Houston for a 6:30 pm contest against the Rice Owls on Tuesday.
Â
Despite the three losses suffered at Florida over the weekend, the Maroon and White enter Tuesday's action with a 25-game win streak in midweek contests, including a 7-0 mark in 2015.
Â
The Aggies will send freshman TYLER IVEY to the mound. It will mark the first midweek start for the rookie who is 2-1 with a 2.43 ERA in seven weekend starts.
Â
Much of the lineup will look to catch up to speed with BOOMER WHITE and HUNTER MELTON, who combined for 15 of A&M's 29 hits in the Florida series. White batted .667 (8-for-12) in Gainesville while Melton hit .500 (7-for-14).
RYNE BIRK was .308 (4-for-13) with two doubles, one home run and five RBI in the series.
Â
The Aggies own a 181-95-2 edge in the all-time series. The Aggies have won the last four meetings with each of the last three victories coming by one run. Last season, Texas A&M used seven pitchers to log a 4-3 win on April 7. The Aggies trailed 3-1 at the seventh-inning stretch, but A&M got back-to-back solo home runs from J.B. MOSS and Logan Nottebrok in the seventh inning and the Aggies got a walk by Mitchell Nau and singles by NICK BANKS and RONNIE GIDEON to produce the go-ahead run in the eighth.
