COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Soccer newcomers Grace Cory and Grace Piper wrapped up their prep careers in record fashion.
Â
Cory set the Southlake Carroll High School all-time record for points and ended her career with 85 goals, just two shy of the school record. She logged 222 points on 85 goals and 52 assists over a prep career that spanned 107 matches.
Â
Southlake Carroll's state playoff run was stopped short of its destination with a shootout loss to Flower Mound Marcus over the weekend. The Dragons ended the season with a 23-2-0 mark. Cory helped the squad average nearly six goals a game.
Â
The loss didn't diminish the outstanding senior campaign Cory experienced. She logged 23 goals, including a notching a hat trick in the Dragons' 10-0 win over South Grand Prairie in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs. The effort against SGP earned her DFW Varsity 6-A Player of the Week accolades. She ended her senior season with 58 points, including 12 assists.
Â
Piper, last season's District 16-6A MVP, notched 16 points this season as a holding midfielder at The Woodlands High School, logging seven goals and two assists.
Â
The Woodlands' season also ended over the weekend with a 1-0 loss to Round Rock. The Highlanders concluded their campaign with a 21-4-1 record.
