The Aggies have played four exhibition matches this spring. The started with a 2-2 draw against the Houston Cougars and ended February with a 2-0 win against Lamar. A short-handed A&M squad, missing five starters due to international stints and injuries, dropped a 3-1 decision to Oklahoma State. In their most recent outing, the Aggies lost a 5-0 contest to professional side Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League.

With a handful of starters out of action for the spring, the freshmen have gotten a chance to shine. Jordan Hill has led the squad in scoring with three goals. Bri Davis has also added a tally.

Last season, Northwestern State finished 5-10-4 overall, including 2-6-3 in the Southland Conference. The teams squared off last August in the second game of the 2015 season with A&M winning 3-0 on goals by Haley Pounds, Mikaela Harvey and Janae Cousineau. Taylor Saucier and Mia Hummel combined on the shutout.

The Aggies finished the 2015 season ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll and posted a 17-7-2 record. The Maroon and White appeared in their 21st consecutive NCAA Division I Championship, advanced to the Second Round for the 18th consecutive year, appeared in the Sweet 16 for the 14th time in program history and earned their sixth Elite Eight showing.
