BIRMINGHAM – A trio of Texas A&M track and field athletes received SEC Athlete of the Week honors this week following a sweep of UCLA during the dual meet the Bruins hosted this week. Latario Collie and Maggie Malone were selected as field athletes of the week while JaQwae Ellison received the freshman of the week honor.

Collie's mark of 53-8 ¼ (16.36) in the triple jump is the current collegiate leader among wind-legal performances and he leads the SEC list by a foot. Collie is the top returning triple jumper from last season after he placed second at both the SEC Championships and NCAA Championships. He set the Aggie school record last year with a leap of 56-4 ½ (17.18).

Malone is already the current U.S. and collegiate leader in the javelin with her school record throw of 198-0 (60.26) from last month. Her winning mark of 193-10 (59.09) from the UCLA dual is the second best throw this season. Malone is also the first collegiate female since 2009 to register two throws past 193 feet in the same season. Her series at UCLA also include marks of 184-4 (56.19) and 186-9 (56.93) in her series.

Ellison improved his outdoor best in the 800m to 1:48.54, moving to No. 10 on the A&M all-time list, as he finished third in the UCLA dual. Ellison's mark is the top freshman time in the SEC and currently ranks second among U.S. juniors in 2016 and is ninth on the World junior list. The previous best for Ellison was 1:51.53 outdoors in mid-March as well as an indoor time of 1:49.60 set in February.

In national team computer rankings released by USTFCCCA this week the Aggie men remain No. 1 while the A&M women are No. 5 for the fourth consecutive week. Dual meet rankings, updated by Track & Field News, have the Texas A&M men locked into the No. 1 position with the Aggie women No. 2.

The top 10 men's teams following Texas A&M in the national rankings include Florida, Oregon, Texas, LSU, Virginia, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama and Texas Tech. The five squads in front of the Aggie women include Oregon, Arkansas, USC, and LSU. Rounding out the women's top 10 include Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Florida and Kansas State.

Dual meet rankings for the men include Texas A&M in the top spot followed by Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Akron, Florida State, UCLA, Ohio State, Washington and USC. Oregon leads the women's dual meet rankings followed by the Aggies, UCLA, Purdue, Penn State, Washington, USC, Florida, Texas and LSU in the top 10.
