MINNEAPOLIS – Former Texas A&M forward/guard Courtney Williams was signed by the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx today. The Lynx won the 2015 WNBA Finals, and are the league's defending champions.
Williams, a 6-1 forward, averaged 12.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in her senior campaign with Texas A&M. She was named Second Team All-SEC by the league's coaches for the third consecutive season. Williams finished her collegiate career with the Aggies ranked fourth among active SEC players in career points, third in field goals made and seventh in rebounds. She finished with career averages of 11.6 points and 4.7 rebounds.
Williams' signing means three members of Texas A&M's senior class, a group that went 97-39 while in Aggieland, are vying to make WNBA rosters, joining Courtney Walker (Atlanta) and Jordan Jones (Chicago), who were both selected in last week's WNBA Draft. The three rookies look to make the roster for the WNBA's opening day, and join Danielle Adams, Kelsey Bone, Sydney Carter and Sydney Colson, all of whom played in the WNBA last season.
