BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M senior Chase Wolfle earned SEC Field Athlete of the Week honors following his winning performance at the Michael Johnson Invitational as he vaulted 18 feet, 6 ½ inches to tie the Aggie school record set by teammate Audie Wyatt this season.

Wolfle improved his previous outdoor best of 18-2 ¾ from the 2014 season in clearing the school record height, which also serves as the Olympic Trials qualifying standard. In clearing 18-6 ½, Wolfle is equal to the second highest collegiate mark this outdoor season and equal to the fifth best mark on the current world list.

During the indoor campaign earlier this season Wolfle had his indoor school record of 18-0 ½, which he shared with two other Aggies, overtaken by Wyatt, who vaulted 18-1 to win the SEC Championship.

This outdoor season Wolfle had cleared a best of 16-10 ¾ during the UCLA dual meet two weeks ago. Last year his outdoor best was 17-8 ½, which he cleared twice in winning the B division of the Texas Relays and placing ninth at the NCAA Championships.

During the 2014 outdoor campaign Wolfle set his previous career best of 18-2 ¾ in finishing third at the SEC Championships. He also cleared 18-0 ½ twice, for third place at the Texas Relays and tying for fifth place in the NCAA Championships.
