Texas A&M sophomore golfer Maddie Szeryk will tee it up in this week's LPGA Volunteers of America Texas Shootout at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving. Szeryk qualified for the event by tying for the top score on March 16 in a college qualifier for the event.
Szeryk starts play on the par 71 / 6,809 yard course at 7:43 a.m. on Thursday, April 28 off of Hole No. 1. This is Szeryk's second LPGA event since enrolling at Texas A&M, after she shot 149 (+5) in two rounds at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open in August. As a high school golfer, Szeryk qualified for the 2014 North Texas Shootout, shooting 148 (+8).
This is the second consecutive year that Texas A&M has had an active golfer in the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout, as Marijosse Navarro finished 51st last year with a 289 (+5).
Szeryk leads Texas A&M with a 72.27 stroke average this season, and has shot par-or-better in 15 of her 26 rounds this season.
The Golf Channel provides coverage of the event, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. CT on April 28 & 29, and 2-5 p.m. CT on April 30 & May 1.
