MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Final dual meet rankings for the 2016 season were released by Track & Field News this week and the Texas A&M track and field program had its men's team ranked No. 1 with the women's squad ranked No. 2.

This is the second consecutive year for the Aggie men to claim the No. 1 status in dual meet rankings by the monthly magazine Track & Field News. This marks the third time in the past four years for the A&M women to earn the No. 2 ranking.

Following the Aggie men among the top 10 of the dual meet rankings were Nebraska, Oregon, Florida State, UCLA, Penn State, Indiana, Washington, Akron and Ohio State. Oregon led the women's dual meet rankings ahead of Texas A&M. with teams among the top 10 including Purdue, Penn State, Washington, USC, Florida, Texas, UCLA and Stanford.

National dual meet records were tied or broken in six women's events this season, which included Texas A&M's Maggie Malone breaking the javelin record with her 193-10 (59.09) performance in the UCLA dual meet. The previous mark was 188-3 (57.38) set by UTEP's Aggeliki Tsiolakoudi in 2000.

Aggie Hector Hernandez nearly claimed the dual meet record in the 800m with a 1:46.29 winning performance in the UCLA dual, which just missed the 1:46.20 record set in 2013 by Elijah Greer of Oregon.

The oldest record among the national dual meet rankings is in the men's shot put, where the mark of 71-5 ½ (21.78) by Texas A&M's Randy Matson has stood since 1967.

Updated USTFCCA national team computer rankings this week have the Aggie men in the No. 1 position while the women moved up to No. 10.

Top 10 teams in the USTFCCCA rankings behind the A&M men include Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Alabama, Texas Tech and Virginia Tech. A total of nine SEC men's teams are ranked among the top 25 this week. The other conference schools include Mississippi State (13), South Carolina (19) and Tennessee (24).

The top 10 schools in the women's USTFCCCA rankings include Kentucky, Arkansas, Oregon, Texas, USC, Florida, LSU, Stanford, Kansas State and Texas A&M. Among the top 25 there are 10 SEC schools ranked, which includes Georgia (11), Tennessee (13), Mississippi State (16), Auburn (22) and Mississippi (23).
