Trio of Aggies Named to NCAA Field

COLLEGE STATION – A pair of singles players and a doubles team will represent No. 13 Texas A&M at the 2016 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday evening. Sophomore Arthur Rinderknech was named to both the singles and doubles field, playing alongside senior Jackson Withrow, while senior Shane Vinsant will represent the Aggies in the singles bracket.

COLLEGE STATION – A pair of singles players and a doubles team will represent No. 13 Texas A&M at the 2016 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday evening. Sophomore Arthur Rinderknech was named to both the singles and doubles field, playing alongside senior Jackson Withrow, while senior Shane Vinsant will represent the Aggies in the singles bracket.
 
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 25-30 at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 20-24. The University of Tulsa will serve as host for the 2016 NCAA Tennis Championships.
 
Rinderknech will make his first appearance in the NCAA singles and doubles field after earning All-SEC honors for the second straight season. The right-hander paced the Aggies with a 26-11 singles record, including an impressive 14 wins against ranked opponents. Currently ranked as the nation's No. 19 singles player, Rinderknech was named to the SEC All-Tournament team for the second consecutive season, helping the Aggies advance to the semifinals for the fourth straight season.
 
Rinderknech partnered with Withrow to earn a career-high No. 6 ranking in the latest ITA doubles poll after compiling a 28-8 mark, going 12-5 alongside Withrow. Including the upcoming 2016 tournament, Withrow has represented the Aggies in a trio of NCAA doubles championships, including a pair as a national seed alongside former partner Junior Ore.
 
Vinsant will be making his second appearance in the NCAA singles field after earning a 22-15 record in his final season in Aggieland. The Keller, Texas, native was ranked in every singles and doubles poll this spring, reaching as high as No. 29 in singles and No. 12 in doubles. The right-hander advanced to the Round of 16 to earn All-America honors as a sophomore, followed All-American distinction in doubles as a junior.
 
The senior garnered All-SEC recognition all four years in the Maroon & White, Vinsant was named to the first team in each of his final three seasons after tallying SEC All-Freshman and second team accolades as a rookie. Currently ranked No. 53 in singles and No. 52 in doubles, the senior is nearing 100 wins in both singles (98-46) and doubles (97-51) during his career at Texas A&M.
 
The Mitchell Tennis Center will play host to the 2016 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship first round matches slated for Friday, May 13. No. 13 Texas A&M (26-9) and George Washington (14-8) will hit the court first at the Mitchell Tennis Center at 11 a.m. followed by No. 18 Texas (17-11) and Lamar (17-5) at 2 p.m.
 
Tickets to the first and second-round matches can be purchased in advance at 12thManFoundation.com or during business hours at the Athletic Ticket Office located at Kyle Field or by calling the ticket office at 1-888-99-AGGIE or 979-845-2311. Tickets also will be available for purchase on match days at the Mitchell Tennis Center beginning one hour before match time.
