No. 12 Texas A&M claimed the doubles point to begin play against No. 18 Texas, followed by nearly a complete first set on each singles court. The Horns claimed two first sets to the Aggie's one, while three singles first sets were still being contested.

In doubles play, every court saw at least three breaks to open the match before the Aggies claimed the tightly contested point. Arthur Rinderknech and Max Lunkin went down 4-1 early, but rattled off five straight points to top John Mee and Harrison Scott, 6-4, and put pressure on the other two Longhorn courts. Texas forced a winner-take-all match on doubles court one as Adrian Ortiz and Julian Zlobinsky topped Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant 6-4 on second court.

Aleksandre Bakshi and Jackson Withrow were poised to clinch the point for the Maroon and White, but a ball that looked to sail long was called in and the Longhorns forced a tiebreaker at 6-6. The tiebreaker against George Goldhoff and Michael Riechmann stayed on serve until Bakshi ripped a pair of forehand winners before Withrow serve clinched the point.

The winner of the second round match will advance to the NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Okla. beginning Friday, May 20. Visit 12thMan.com for more information on Texas A&M men's tennis.
