EUGENE, Ore. — Competing as an individual, Texas A&M sophomore Cameron Champ opened the 2016 NCAA Men's Golf Championship with a first round of 74 Friday at Eugene Country Club, finishing the day in a tie for 87th place.

The Sacramento, Calif., native was one-under on the back nine during the round, carding birdies on No. 11 and No. 15 to complete the day at four over par.
