OMAHA, Neb. --- Nearly 30 current, former or incoming Texas A&M swimmers will be pursuing their Olympic dreams at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials beginning Sunday, June 26 and continuing through July 3 at the CenturyLink Center.
Texas A&M will be represented by 27 total swimmers at the Olympic Trials, which will determine Team USA for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil later this summer. The top two finishers in each race earn an Olympic berth and the top six finishers in the 100- and 200-meter freestyle can advance for relay purposes.
Thirteen swimmers from the 2016 SEC Champion Texas A&M women's team will compete in Omaha, and three members of the 2015-16 Aggie men's team will participate.
From the women's team are 2016 seniors Claire Brandt, Colleen Konetzke and Meredith Oliver, junior Sarah Gibson, sophomores Lisa Bratton, Jorie Caneta, Bethany Galat, Kristin Malone, Caitlyn Moon and Laura Norman, and freshmen Raena Eldridge, Lexie Lupton and Claire Rasmus.
From the men's team are senior Jacob Wallace and sophomores Jonathan Tybur and Austin Van Overdam.
Five incoming Aggies will also compete: Karling Hemstreet, Sara Metzsch, Katie Portz and Sam Siebenaller from the women's team and Anthony Kim from the men's squad.
Texas A&M Former Students competing at the Trials include 2012 U.S. Olympians Cammile Adams and Breeja Larson, Team USA veteran Sarah Henry, Sammie Bosma, Hayden Duplechain and John Wagner.
