COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Soccer welcomed their newest arrival when Quinn Murphy began classes this week, head coach G Guerrieri announced on Wednesday.
Â
"Quinn's a great young player with an exciting future ahead of her in Aggieland," Guerrieri said. "She is nearly six feet tall and has a dominating presence in the middle of the midfield, yet she also possesses a delicate technical touch and a high soccer IQ."
Â
Murphy was a standout with St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin and the Lonestar Soccer Club. She earned All-Southwest Preparatory Conference honors for the 2015-16 campaign as she helped guide them to the SPC Tournament championship game. Murphy starred on Lonestar SC's ECNL unit the last four years, appearing in 80 matches with 14 goals and four assists from the midfield. She participated in the US Soccer U14 Girls National Team Training Camp in 2012 and was a member of the U15 Talent Pool in 2013.
Â
"Quinn comes from a fantastic soccer family," Guerrieri said. "Her brother (Nesta) coaches with Orlando City's B Team in USL, while her other brother (Noah) will be a sophomore player at Saint Louis University this fall. Meanwhile her father (Bobby) is the current interim head coach of Orlando City in the MLS."
Â
Murphy was originally slated to enroll at Texas A&M this upcoming January, but her graduation schedule was accelerated when her family moved to Orlando.
Â
"When her father was hired by Orlando City, it changed their way of looking at the coming year. Rather than move to Florida and enroll in a new high school for just the fall semester, she decided to do extra work to graduate high school a full year early. I'm excited for the opportunity of having her in our Aggie soccer family and to be able to work with her to achiever her goals and help make her an incredible college player."
