COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Tournament organizers revealed the bracket for the 2016 DirecTV Wooden Legacy, owned and operated by ESPN Events, on Thursday with Texas A&M slated to open the event against CSUN (Cal State University-Northridge) during a Thanksgiving (Nov. 24) afternoon matchup at 1 p.m. (CT).
Â
The Texas A&M-CSUN contest will be aired on ESPN3 with the victor moving on to face the winner of the New Mexico-Virginia Tech match-up in the event's second round. On the opposing side of the event's bracket, Dayton will take on Nebraska while Portland and UCLA face off.
Â
The first two days of the event, Nov. 24-25, will take place at Titan Gym in Fullerton, Calif., before the venue shifts to the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., for the tournament's concluding day on Nov. 27.
Â
The Aggies made a splash on the national scene during the Thanksgiving weekend last season, turning heads by defeating a pair of NCAA Tournament teams in Texas and No. 10 Gonzaga to reach the title game of the Battle4Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas. During the event's championship tilt, Texas A&M dropped a hard-fought contest to Syracuse, which would go on to make a run to the Final Four during March Madness.
Â
Under sixth-year head coach Billy Kennedy, Texas A&M enters the fall looking to build on last season's breakout 2015-16 campaign that saw the Aggies set a school record for wins (28), capture a share of the SEC Championship and advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament before finishing the year ranked No. 12 in the final USA Today/Coaches Poll.
