COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M women's tennis has been named an ITA All-Academic Team, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced. In addition, Aggies Saska Gavrilovska, Stefania Hristov and Eva Paalma received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
Â
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale. All varsity letterwinners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year, including fall 2015 and spring 2016.
Â
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1) be a varsity letterwinner, 2) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale for the current academic year, and 3) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
Â
This marks the second consecutive year Gavrilovska, a junior human resource development major from Serbia, and Paalma, a sophomore business administration major from Estonia, have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction. It is the first time Hristov, a senior human resource development major from Romania, has received the accolade.

Â
Paalma and her partner, Rachel Pierson, were a team-best No. 31 in the national doubles rankings. Hristov had shoulder surgery prior to the spring season and was unable to compete.
